My Top 9 Favorite Home Decor Items

If you know me, you know I love home decor. The following are my top 9 home decor pieces.

1. My Large Cross – This was a wedding gift and it has always hung in our living room no matter where we’ve lived.

2. My Sloth sign – This was a gift from a friend. She saw this and immediately thought of me. She knows I love sloths and the message totally fits my life.

3. My palm tree named Sandy – I have had this little tree since Palm Sunday this past year. I love seeing life in my home and I love watching her thrive!

4. My Maps – I love these maps as they give the perfect look to our living room.

5. My Wedding Bouquet – the reason I got fake flowers for our wedding is because they were cheap and I could save them forever.

6. My Bed Spread – I love my bed spread. It has a very country and comforting feel. Plus, it goes with everything.

7. My Tapestry – this is definitely one of my favorites. It’s a beautiful piece of art and really makes me feel like I’m sleeping under the trees.

8. My Michigan Accent – this piece of decor I received recently from a friend as a housewarming gift. I truly love it!

9. My bulletin board – I love this thing as it helps me stay organized.

I hope you enjoyed my little tour of my home and my top 9 home decor picks. Have a great Tuesday!

My Living Room Reveal!

My living room is probably my favorite place in the apartment, at the moment. I absolutely love the layout, the sliding glass door, the natural lighting, and the fireplace! It has been so much fun to be able to decorate this part of our home, as I have been able to add some new decor!

In our previous apartments, I have never had so much natural lighting and never have had luck in growing plants. However, since this whole quarantine business, I have an abundance of time and natural lighting for my precious plant babies. Everyday I place my plants out on my balcony to get some sun light, and every evening I bring them in before they get cold. If it’s too cold during the day, I set them near the sliding glass door window to get their sun light. Having a sliding glass door off the livingroom has really been a blessing.

As of right now we are still using my trunk as a table, but I am hoping once the pandemic has passed, we can purchase a new coffee table (I’ll keep you posted :D) We recently purchased our two maps of NYC and Paris from Target. They were on clearance for $8! What a great deal!

The fireplace, as I mentioned is one of my favorites! I also love my gorgeous palm tree named Sandy. She adds just the right touch to our home ❤️. One last piece of home decor I truly appreciate is the large cross that we have hung over our fireplace. This was a wedding gift from a dear friend of mine, and it says “Faith, Hope and Love are some good things He gave us… but the greatest of these is Love.”

My Bathroom Reveal!

On March 20th, we moved into our new home. Originally, I didn’t think I would have much time to unpack and organize our new home. But with the stay at home order in place, I have nothing but time at home. I have been diligently organizing and decorating each room until I feel it is complete. I am happy to announce that my bathroom is ready for its’ big reveal! So without further or do… here is my bathroom!

I absolutely love the openness of my bathroom. It is the biggest bathroom we’ve ever had!

I was able to keep some of my old beach themed bathroom decor, as well as add some new pieces. These beach pictures were a dollar store find!

Charles picked out the shower curtain from Target. It has cute raindrops and is absolutely perfect.

The counter space is AMAZING! There’s enough space for the counter not to feel cluttered, but still have our things accessible.

There is so much room with cabinet space, closet space and a medicine cabinet.

Before and after…

There you have it! I hope you enjoyed my bathroom reveal! Keep an eye out for more room reveals! 🙂

Reopening My Etsy Shop: Welcome to KER Creations Studio

On June 15th, I decided to take on a new project and reopen my Etsy Shop. I originally opened this shop a year ago and have only had 2 or 3 sales. So, I decided to shut it down for awhile. However, ever since I started my blog and got more familiar with Instagram, advertising and algorithms… I decided to give my shop another chance.

The last time I opened my shop it was just a variety of different hand knit and crocheted items. However, this time I decided to give my shop a purpose and to solely focus on hand knit and crocheted baby items. I first started with creating baby hats, but have now grown into making headbands, blankets, and even hats for mom and baby. I have learned how to advertise via Instagram and Pintrest, and have had quite a few more sales.

If you are interested in purchasing one of my items…. check out my shop below.

Redecorating My Home Office

There’s just something truly satisfying about organizing and redecorating. This summer since I have had the opportunity to relax and stay home, I have been extremely motivated to organize and redecorate my whole apartment. One of the very first rooms I tackled this summer was my spare room.

My spare room or second bedroom has always kind of been a storage room, but this summer I wanted to turn it into my home office. Before redecorating my home office, I decided not to take any before pictures. It’s not because there wasn’t a huge transformation, but rather I just didn’t feel like showing the whole world my clutter room.

I am very excited about how my office turned out.

I reorganized my desk, put up a bulletin board, and opened up this space to not only make it positive but productive.

I hung twinkle lights under my windowsill and above my desk. I find this calming and comforting. I placed my metal chair and ottoman in the corner for a place to write and blog.

On top of my filing cabinet I have a blessings box. This was a bridal shower gift given to me by my bestie Alli. When Charles and I have something awesome happen, we write it on a card and place it in our blessings box.

This corner still has some storage items. This is where I keep many of my Etsy products as well as just simple storage.

I found this winter painting at an estate sale and absolutely love it! Ya’ll might think I’m crazy for hanging up a winter picture…. but I’m from Michigan and we see snow at least 6 months out of the year.

This cabinet/tv stand I found at a yard sale for $2. I use this to store my books, art supplies, and Etsy inventory.

Thank you all so much for checking out my new home office. I hope you enjoyed it!

Starting Mackenzie’s Project

Have you ever wanted to do something, but never had the courage or dedication to it? Has there always been that one thing on your bucket list that you want to accomplish, but never seem to have time for? Have you always wanted to use your talents for good? I have. One thing I have always wanted to do is to create and donate baby hats to local hospitals.

I have been knitting since the age of ten. My momma taught me, and my Grandma also assisted me. At the age of seventeen, I learned how to crochet. I learned this skill by watching YouTube videos and help from my grandma. I have made and created many items. I have sold various items in craft shows, garage sales and even on Etsy. I have found many ways to knit and crochet a product to earn a little extra money, but I have never donated my creations.

With all of this being said, I have decided to start a project. I am calling it Mackenzie’s Project… in memory of my daughter Mackenzie. My goal is to knit and crochet 25 baby hats and donate them to a local hospital. My plan is to donate these hats around my what would have been due date which is September 16th, 2019.

I would absolutely love if you could support me in this project by following me on my Pintrest page @ https://www.pinterest.com/MrsRhames/mackenzies-project-my-hobby-of-knitting-and-croche/

I Am

The following is a healing art activity I did in my internship. This exercise was not only therapeutic but also enjoyable. This poem has a more lighter tone to it, and I found it quite whimsical to write. I hope you enjoy! ❤️

I Am

I am KIND and GENTLE

I wonder about my FUTURE

I hear the BIRDS singing

I see a beautiful SUNSET

I want a RAINBOW baby

I AM kind and gentle

I pretend I am a PRINCESS

I feel my GUARDIAN angel’s wings

I touch the TREE of life

I worry about having another MISCARRIAGE

I cry for my BABY

I am kind and GENTLE

I understand the meaning of LOVE

I say CHILDREN are our future

I dream about being a MOMMY

I try to be the BEST I can be

I hope to be a successful WRITER

I am KIND and gentle

Healing Art 🎨

The immediate days following my procedure, I was in a lot of physical and emotional pain. I was heartbroken my baby was gone. I was saddened I was no longer pregnant and I was angry my hormones were all over the place and I still felt pregnant. I was also confused as to why I miscarried my baby. Through my many emotions, I found comfort in art.

I spent many hours coloring in my adult coloring book. I also downloaded many songs that related to grief, death, love and miscarriage. I looked up many quotes online that I found comforting and relatable to what I was feeling, I knitted and crocheted different items that allowed me to be creative as well as keep my hands busy. Lastly, I embroidered Mackenzie’s quilt. I had never done embroidering before, but it honestly turned out better than I thought. I love art and find it very therapeutic.
