On April 25th, 2019 I wrote my first blog post called A Leap of Faith. Over the last 16 months I have wrote on average 5 posts a month. Let me tell you I have learned so much about blogging, marketing and writing. I truly love it. Blogging has opened up many opportunities for me to become vulnerable, create my legacy and brand, become various brand ambassadors, share my story, help others and even become a published author. Now I’m not an expert when it comes to blogging as I know I still have a lot to learn. However, I would like to take a moment to share a few tips on becoming a blogger.

- Your Blog’s Purpose
Before creating a blog, it’s important to have a general idea on what your blog is going to be about. The purpose of your blog can change over time, but it is important to stick to one or a couple general ideas so you have a targeted audience you are trying to reach. For example, when i first wrote my blog, the entire purpose was to share my story about miscarriage. However, since starting my blog it has very much evolved into other themes, including Lifestyle, Selfcare, Grief and Miscarriage.
2. Consider Your Audience
Like i mentioned above, it is important to consider who your audience will be. For example, i would say my audience is a mixture of women, moms, angel moms, writers, and teachers. I have this audience because of the things I write about on my blog. If your audience can relate to it, then they are more likely to follow you on your blogging journey.
3. Be Consistent
This tip is huge, and probably the most important. It is very important to be consistent when writing and publishing blog posts. If you post consistently, you are more likely to grow your audience as they are likely to read your posts and anticipate when you will post again. When I say be consistent, I mean you should probably be writing a blog post once a week. If you write a blog post once every two months or when ever you remember, it is likely you will lose or not grow your audience. It is also a great idea to schedule blog posts. I often do this if I know I am going to be busy. This allows me to be consistent with my audience, but not constantly feel like I am on a deadline.
4. Promote Your Blog
This is such a good idea especially if you are hoping to gain followers and grow your audience. I use a variety of platforms to promote my blog including Facebook, Instagram, and Pinterest. Pinterest is probably my favorite as it is easy for people to search a particular topic, and click on the link to my blog. I also enjoy using Instagram as many of my Instagram followers can follow along on my blogging journey.
5. Take Risks
When creating a blog, you are essentially creating your own public journal. It’s yours to do pretty much what ever you want. So take risks. Honestly, it is the blog posts I have taken risks on that I often get the most feedback from my audience. Take risks and more often than not it will be worth it.
I truly hope these blogging tips for beginners helped! Thanks for reading ❤
Great tips! Goodluck and happy blogging. 🙂
